A vendor at the San Marcos Farmers Market stopped by at our booth one day and gave me this nice tin box with recipes cards of German cookies. It is from Germany and written in German. I looked through the recipes and some of them are very familiar to me and others not at all since it is a mix of recipes from different regions in Germany. The Nusspiralen looked interesting to me, and I gave it a try. We tested it on our customers, and we had a great response. The dough is cut into two pieces and one part chocolate and nuts are added. The two doughs are rolled out separately, then layered and rolled up. After cooling it in the refrigerator it is cut into round slices and then baked. It looks great and tastes good. It is a mix of butter and then the chocolate, hazelnuts and a hint of cinnamon is coming through. The cookies are not too sweet and therefor it is a very balanced flavor of all the ingredients.

Organic white wheat flour, organic butter, organic powdered sugar, organic eggs, organic cacao powder, organic cinnamon, organic hazelnuts, salt.
