Milchwegge/Milk rolls remind me of my childhood going with my grandma to the bakery and she would by me a Milchwegge as a treat. The Wegge/rolls are connected and depending how may you would by the shop assistant would break of the number of rolls you wanted.
As the name suggests the dough is made with milk, has a little bit of sugar and some butter in it. The rolls are shaped and put right away on a baking sheet when the dough is done and rise for a relative short time. Before baking they are brushed with a milk egg mix, which during baking turns the surface shine golden brown. You literally bite into a cloud, which I remember so clearly from my childhood. It is lightly sweet, and the skin of the roll is a little bit dens and pieces of it give a slight egg taste when you chew. This is a great roll for a snack and ideal for dinner rolls. It goes well with butter and jam or honey. We sell it as a piece of six rolls.
